Spécialités: Asparagus, Valaisanne plate, Fondue

Site: converted into a centre of Valaisian gastronomy, the former village forge is nowadays a modern welcoming restaurant in Rilke country.

Valaisian cuisine: since the opening of the fish farm at Raron, the Schmitta has become famous for its smoked Lötschberg perch, gratinated or with almonds. In addition to the traditional fondues and cheese croûtes there are, according to season: pumpkin soup from the garden, émincé de veau (thinly sliced veal) with apricots from Raron - served with noodles from Ulrichen, cream of carrot soup with prunes, home-made stewed fruit dishes. In the wine cellar, some exceptionally good specialities from the Upper-Valais.

Open Thursdays to 3 pm on Tuesdays. Closed between Christmas and New Year. Access: cantonal road Sierre to Viège, exit at Rarogne, follow train station, then the underpass in the direction of the chapel.
